Tropex Exports Limited (together with assistance from Engineers Fiji [EF]) organised two (2) presentations which were held at The Fiji Club (located at 1 Selbourne Street, Suva, Fiji) on Wednesday, 5th November, 2025, commencing at 0900hrs and 1400hrs. The presentations were delivered by Michael Kemp (Plasson) & Duncan Smith (AVK) [international water industry manufacturers] on High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) fittings, with the target audience (at these presentations) being EF Professional Members.
The presentations and pressure test demonstrations were very engaging and showed how the utilisation of HDPE fittings (which are lead free [currently being adopted in Fiji]), as well as proper installation techniques can bring about positive changes and solve some of the challenges faced by water infrastructures in Fiji. Some of the HDPE fittings mentioned in the presentation include: butterfly valves, electrofusion fittings, mechanical fittings with sleeve inserts, push-fit fittings, live tap fittings.
Plasson and AVK intend on making 2-3 presentations every year (with the next one tentatively scheduled for January 2026). They have also offered to tailor future presentations to solve a set of questions raised by EF (and registered attendees). In order to communicate these questions, EF shall, in due course, shall solicit these from its membership.
